Proud
Hold a plenary discussion on the meaning of
the song:
I look into the empty window of my mind
Reflections of the bad fears I know I've left behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
1. What is the protagonist proud of?
2. What has the protagonist left behind?
3. What is the message of the song?
4. What is the protagonist encouraging the
listener to do?
5. How does the song make you feel?
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many other people
If you make that break for freedom
Put the learners into groups and tell them that
they need to plan a music video for the song.
They have to decide the location, the
characters, and what happens. Then each group
explains their idea to the rest of the class and
the learners vote on the best one.
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
Still so many answers I don't know (there are so many answers)
Realize that to ask question is how we grow (to question is to
we grow)
So I step out of the ordinary
Write a diary entry on behalf of the
protagonist in the song. Get your students
to examine the thoughts and feelings that
inspired the song-writer.
I can feel my soul ascending
I'm on my way
Can't stop me now
You can do the same
Yeah, we need a change, yeah
Do it up today, yeah
I can feel my spirit rising yet
Change, yeah, we need a change, yeah
So do it today, yeah
'Cause I can see a clear horizon
