I have
always encouraged my students to be unique and believe
in their awesomeness. What makes you proud of who you are, Vanae?
Knowing that I have a rich history and that my people have done great
things makes me believe that I can do anything.
For me you are a hero who brings cultures together but who is your hero?
My parent and my ancestors. Queen Nzinga, Queen Nanny of the Maroons, Marcus Garvey,
John Horse of the Seminoles. Just to name a few I've learned about.
I believe that “People should unite and work together” so
this brings me to my last question…Do you plan to get in
touch with other kids around the world and create a
mutual project?
I would love to travel to the places I've written about
and to places I want to write about in future books to
meet the children. I've been invited a few places and
just love exploring and learning new things.
