I’ ve known Ivy Chen for almost five years. Not only have I seen how her English has improved but also how passionate she feels about her hobbies- ballet, fishing, writing poems, speech contests, to name but a few. I still remember our first English lesson when she was so eager to tell me about her art classes. Now Ivy is sharing with us her LOVE for Drawing and how she drew this amazing“ Hobbit” Scene.
I didn ' t know when or how exactly I started drawing, but it ' s in almost every child to pick up pencil and paper and create something from their worlds of imagination. My opinion is that anyone can be an artist, all one needs is practice and a passion for what you are creating.

I started seriously learning to draw when I was still in kindergarten, but I didn ' t really start expressing my ideas through my works until probably a year ago. Before then, drawing simply meant patches of colour to me; but now, it ' s clear that drawing( as well as ballet and the piano) are inseparable parts of my everyday life.
Usually, images would keep nagging at me until I felt compelled to sketch them. I ' ve wanted to do this“ hobbit drawing” for a long time, probably ever since I read Tolkien ' s books. In my mind ' s eye I could almost see Bilbo Baggins( The Hobbit), opening the door of Bagend( his hobbit hole) to greet a bright new day, with light streaming into the room and the entire view of the Shire stretching for miles in front of him. All these abstract thoughts all turned into this picture as I listened to Tolkien ' s " The Old Walking Song ",( which is what eventually inspired me to draw this picture.) Quote:“ The road goes ever on and on, down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the road has gone, and I must follow if I can.
