Lily and the Snowman

Topic: Lily and the Snowman Aims: To practise Speaking and Listening skills. Step 1 Write the following sentence on the board and ask the students to complete it:
If I had a snowman all year around, I would … Discuss their answers and ask them where they would keep it when it gets warm.
Step 2. Show the photos and tell your students that they come from a short film called LILY AND THE SNOWMAN. Put the students in groups and ask them to put the photos in the order they appear in the video. You will find the pictures on page 9.
Step 3 Play the video and check the order of the pictures. Ask someone to tell the story. Key: c, e, a, d, f, b
Step 4 Discussion:
How can you describe the relationship between Lily and the snowman? How do you think the snowman feels every time Lily opens the door of the fridge?
Why is it important for Lily to show the snowman to her little daughter?
Step 5 Writing a script Put the students in groups of three and ask them to write a script. Draw their attention to the fact that the lines need to coincide with the length of the scenes. Walk around and help with unfamiliar vocabulary and correct any mistakes. This should take about 15 min. Then the students dub the video while it is being played. Ask them to pay attention to their intonation.
