You clearly have an involved editing process.
For you, when does an image feel “finished”?
I don’t think it ever is! What I am happy
with one day can look completely different
the next and be deleted without a second
thought! There are only a child’s handful
of pictures that I don’t feel inclined to play
with further and I really don’t know what
distinguishes these from the rest! I spend
hours and hours editing and have hundreds
of pictures that will never see the light of
day, albeit I was happy with them at the
time of completion...but isn’t everybody
the same?
Tell us more about how Instagram
communities have influenced your work
and ability to connect with others.
As for Instagram, I’ve met people and
visited places I would never have met or
gone without Instagram. I’ve developed a
couple of relationships that are valuable,
and firm friendships with a few people
that I truly treasure! It is difficult to know
the extent of the influence it has had on
my work, as I believe that to be hugely
subconscious, but it certainly sets standards
to aim for, educates and inspires me. The
active, constant support that comes from
the virtual realm is so encouraging and I’m
genuinely appreciative of it; that people
you have never met--and probably never
will--can be so responsive, is humbling and
means a great deal.
