For the first 1,000 people who recycle their electron-
ic waste and post it online with the hashtag #RethinkRecy-
cleRevive, Von Wong will send them a limited edition post-
card signed by each of the team members that contributed to
his initiative.
When asked about his views on expressing and mobiliz-
ing social and environmental activism through the arts, Von
Wong admitted:
“I think I still have doubts about the efficiency of the me-
dium, but many people definitely seem to really enjoy and ap-
preciate the campaigns that I create. I don’t think that fighting
a 200 billion dollar advertising industry straight on is a win-
ning strategy, but the idea of pushing the industry towards a
circular economy is one I think would be more effective.”
Through his stunning work and innovative visual narra-
tives, Von Wong certainly succeeds in getting the conversation
going, reminding people that recycling their E-waste is as sim-
ple as dropping it off in the right place to be responsibly repur-
posed by companies like Dell.
“In some ways, it feels like I’m breaking new ground but in
others, the impact seems like a tiny drop in a vast ocean,” Von
Wong concl udes, “Ultimately though, how I feel doesn’t really
matter. What matters, is that I’m trying!”
