Gildas Lepetit Castel
Gildas Lepetit Castel was born on 18th
of december, 1979.
After an adolescence spent on learning
magic and escapology, he understands that
"image" is not simply the anagram of the
word "magic" but also a beautiful way of
evasion. It is during his studies of arts
in Belgium that he gained passion for
photography and will end up making the
darkroom his second house.
During his (ITS) at the University of Lille
3, he will question the relationships
between photography and the cinema of the
New Wave and thus will be the foundation of
his book "Plossu Cinema", then will wonder
about the relation of photographers towards
books. He will gain a POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA
there on the matter of history and the
analysis of photography.
He lives in Arras where he has been
teaching photography for 6 years in the
College of arts in Lille, he works mostly
in analogue equipped with 50mm optics. The
development of his films just like the
original editions is made by himself or
(for the digital impressions) under his
control.
