Institute will hold the 11th
Annual Neuroscience Symposium
on Monday, Sept. 25. The
symposium will be held at the
Hall of Champions located at Kyle
Field at Texas A&M University.
The Symposium will begin with a course,
“Mind Your Brain.” The course will
include a number of 20-minute talks on
topics including:
• Alcohol and Your Brain
• Sleep
• Concussion
• Mindfulness & Meditation
• Dementia
• Traumatic Brain Surgery
• Impact of Opiates in the Brain
• Stroke
• Spine Surgery
• Brain Surgery in 20 Minutes or Less

Following the course,
the keynote address will
be presented by Dr. Iain
McGilchrist-Emeritus
Consultant at Bethlem
Royal & Maudsley

NHS Trust, Fellow of
the Royal College of
Psychiatrists, Fellow of the Royal Society
of Arts and Quondom Fellow of All Souls
College, Oxford. Dr. McGilchrist will be
speaking on the real differences between
the left and right halves of the human
brain. It’s not simply “emotion on the right,
reason on the left,” but something far more
complex and interesting.
The symposium will be held from
5:30 to 8:15 p.m. Free food and
beverages will be provided. There
will also be free parking at the Hall
of Champions parking lot located
right in front of the venue. The
symposium is intended for the general
public, for medical professionals, and
for faculty, educators, and students in all
disciplines. Continuing education credits for
medical professionals will be provided.
