In 2019, the only nonprofit
hospice in the Brazos Valley
will celebrate its 30th birthday!
The kickoff event to recognize three
decades of accomplishment and
community support will commence
during the annual Hospice Happening
event on Feb. 16 from 6 to 11 p.m.
Given the significance of this milestone,
Hospice Happening will be extra special
and all are welcome.
Celebrating 30 years includes sharing
the many lessons HBV has learned. First,
it’s not about how long you live, it’s about
how you live. This is especially true at the
end of life. The decisions people make
allow them to focus on truly living, not
just dying.
HBV has also learned that it’s not
about the disease, it’s about the person.
At the end of life, when cure is no longer
possible, shifting the focus to helping a
person live with a disease becomes a
source of comfort and hope, resulting in a
unique kind of wellness.
Finally, HBV has learned the value of
relationships. Service to others is never
a solitary endeavor. It lives in the hearts
of those who join together in the tireless
pursuit of all that is good in the human
experience.
