50th Annual Arts Festival This year marked the 50th Anniversary of the Enfield Public Schools Arts Festival. Sponsored by the Woman’s Club of Enfield, the Arts Festival is an exhibition of students’ artwork. The jubilee celebration was held in the newly-constructed cafeteria of Enfield High School and welcomed students, faculty, community members, and former alumni. their individual skills, but also articulate their intended meaning of their work. The student performances demonstrated a comprehensive visual arts curriculum and the creative solutions to problem solving, which involves other curricula with a STEAM theme. All those in attendance were thrilled with newly-gained perspectives from the live performances. Through well-developed lessons focused on relationship building, the program is designed to foster leadership and create a culture of shared learning between high school role models and aspiring elementary school learners. Mentoring sessions are spent discussing a variety of student driven topics, such as academics, life skills, peer pressure, conflict resolution, and making appropriate decisions. Each year the organizers of this program work to reflect and revise the curriculum and look forward to making it even better next year. The Annual Kindness Carnival This year, the 4th annual Kindness Carnival was held on June 17th at Enrico Fermi High School. The Kindness Carnival is an event that rewards our primary and intermediate school students for exhibiting acts of kindness with a fun and positive community event each June. Being the 4 th year, the event has become something that elementary students count on and look forward to. Students at the high school level facilitate fun games, crafts, and activities for the elementary and middle school students to participate in. The carnival is made possible through partnerships and donations from local businesses, community members, and many student and staff volunteers. inSights - Spring 2016 5
