Every supermodel wants to wear his clothes, every Hollywood A-lister wants to be his best pal, and the global fashion industry hangs on his every word. Today we’re going to interview the one and only top designer Elie Saab. Elie is the most popular fashion designer nowadays. He got nominated for different prices, such as the top couture award and the Elegance awards. The Lebanese designer most recently dressed the famous Beyonce Knowles and Halle Berry for the Grammy awards, and continues to dress some of the most glamorous woman of the world.
Elie, thank you for having us today. What is it that makes you unique as a fashion designer?
‘Hello Minerwa, I’m pleased to have you here today. I think that the main thing that makes me unique is that I put my heart and soul into my designs. I make sure that every design is unique and that every girl who wears my design will feel like a princess.
You make girls feel like they are goddesses not only princesses, in my opinion! Your designs are definitely amazing. But where do you seek inspiration?
That’s very kind of you to say Minerwa, I’m very pleased to hear this from you. I think it depends on where I am and how I feel at that particular moment, really anything can inspire me.
How did you come this far? Who is Elie saab?
Elie Saab is a 49 year old fashion designer who was born and raised in the capital city of Lebanon Beirut. As a young boy I adored fashion I felt that I could make a difference in the fashion industry. I remember when I was 9 years old my mom gave me an old curtain. I took a scissor and I started to cut out some pieces and sew them together. My sisters saw my designs and they were so impressed by my design that they wore them directly. That was the moment I realized that I’ am very talented. I went to Paris when I turned 17 to study Fashion. When I came back to Lebanon I opened my own boutique. I became known all over the Middle-East. In 2002 Halle Barry bought one of my designs and she wore them to the Oscar awards. My career went from A to B in no time. I never gave up, my passion has brought me this far.
You seem so dedicated to your work. Is there any room left for your private life?
I am indeed very dedicated to my work. I know how to combine my personal life and my career. My family will always remain my priority.
