School makes new VIP club swing

A lot has been achieved in less than
a year thanks to a great team of
volunteers for the club. Jo Fowler,
Tewkesbury School Community
Link Coordinator, has helped
Tewkesbury VIPs - get off to a really
strong start by bringing along
students to help and to chat freely
with the members.
For the inaugural meeting in
November 2013, Colonel Michael
Bennett OBE DL gave a very
interesting and fascinating insight
into his role as a Deputy Lieutenant
for Gloucestershire. At the second
meeting in December a real bonus
was the visit by the School Choir
which the members and volunteers
really enjoyed.
Meetings are held at 2pm on the
first Thursday of every month at
Tewkesbury Baptist Church. Thanks
go to David Hobbs at the Church
for his thoughtful cooperation in
helping the club get established
and turning the heating on early
when needed!
Grant funding enabled induction
training and DBS checks for the new
volunteers. The volunteers have also

received excellent first aid training
delivered by the British Red Cross.
Christmas
is coming!
Local retailers have also generously
supported the new venture with
items for raffle prizes and provisions
for refreshments at the meetings.
The club is very grateful for the
donations as they help the financial
viability and sustainability of the
club for future members.
Each pack is made up of 10 quality
cards & envelopes (one design per
pack) and costs £5 + P&P.

speakers from all walks of life, as
well as introducing members to the
support available to them, including
a popular “through-the-clothes
massage” provided through The
Red Cross.
