A note from our
Welcome to the first edition of The Adecco
Group magazine, Insight. At a time when we
are facing some of the biggest challenges
since the Great Depression; economic
upheaval, seismic changes to our daily way
of living and sadly, the worst public health
crisis in a generation, we have found that now,
more than ever, our clients and colleagues are
looking to understand what’s next.
Even in just a few months, the world of work
has changed. Coming swiftly on the heels
of political, societal and financial upheaval,
we are at the epicentre of a changing global
landscape, one which has already faced
change of immense proportion.
The employment market is crucial to ensuring
a swift recovery and bounce back from the
Covid-19 pandemic and I am determined that
we support businesses to work together, not
only to achieve a new normal but, in time, a
better normal.
I am working closely with my colleagues,
government and industry peers to reimagine
the future of the employment industry, where
changes made during the pandemic become
the cornerstones of our future. We have
provided digital-first recruitment solutions,
online training for candidate upskilling and
robust guidance for getting safely back to
work to name just a few areas of focus. All
these step changes will help to build a bridge
to our future.
Within the magazine we address critical issues
such as the importance of up and re-skilling

employees to safeguard career development,
the emergence of new megatrends as a result
of the global crisis, mass redeployment and
more flexible ways of working. We also explore
the continued rise of automation, how to lead
through a crisis and the increased demand for
a social contract. The latter has been brought
to the fore in recent months as the crisis
has shutdown businesses and temporarily
displaced millions of people from their
livelihoods, further highlighting the need for
immediate reform.
We have also recently published the latest
Labour Market Outlook survey (in partnership
with the CIPD) to provide a narrative around
how the pandemic is impacting our clients in
real terms, details of which you can access
from within the magazine.
Whilst we are still shadowed by uncertainty, it
is the resilience of people that has prevailed
and will continue to do so as we recover from
the pandemic. I know that we have some
challenging months to come but I remain
hopeful that by supporting one another
we will come out of this stronger and more
determined than ever to see a better, brighter
future.
Warm Regards
