The beer is provided by Alabama Crown , Bama Budweiser , and United-Johnson Brothers of Alabama . Alabama Crown also provides the wine for Sudsfest . Lyons says these companies will bring samplings of their best beer and wine . “ They bring whatever kind of beer is hot this year , they bring their best sellers , and their new items they want to try out . [ Sudsfest ] is pretty much a big focus group for them to see what the community likes .”
Ten local restaurants will line the Longleaf Event Center and offer samples of their dishes . The Peerless Saloon & Grille , Heroes , Garfrerick ’ s Cafe , Mad Hatter Cupcake Shop , Zoe ’ s on the Lake , Artisanal Baked Goods , Classic on Noble , Classic Too !, Thai One On , and Rack & Roll Billiards & Sports Bar will all be in attendance .
Games like Tic Tac Toe and cornhole will be set up on the lawn at the botanical gardens . The games are free to play and will be available all night .
Doors open at 6:30 pm on September 23 . Beer and wine tastings , games , and music will be offered until 9:30 pm , when Sudsfest ends . Food tastings will be available from 7:00 to 8:00 pm .
All proceeds from Sudsfest 2017 will support Berman Museum ' s gallery re-design project . “ We ’ re in the process of a redesign right now ,” explained Lyons , “ So it will go towards that and it will go to the daily maintenance , the upgrading , and to our rotating exhibit schedule .”
Sudsfest was one of the first beer tasting events in Calhoun County , 13 years ago , and has grown into a reliable way to support our museums . “ It ’ s really cool that it ’ s been successful enough that we ’ ve been able to bring it back for a yearly fundraiser ,” says Lyons .
Sudsfest will take place rain or shine . Must be 21 or older , and show current photo ID .
