16th Annual Gamecock Gallop 5k Held annually on the 4th Saturday in October at JSU's Pete Mathews Coliseum. Presented by JSU's HPER Club. Jacksonville State University's Gamecock Gallop 5K began in 2001. Over 2000 runners and walkers from Calhoun, Etowah, St. Clair, Talladega, Cherokee, Birmingham, and many other Alabama counties have participated! We are proudly a part of the Anniston Runner's Club Grand Prix Race Series. Proceeds from the Gamecock Gallop are used to support numerous local and national charities and to provide Health, Physical Education, Exercise Science and Recreation students at JSU an opportunity to attend Professional Conferences in their field so they may excel INSIGHT as leaders and promote running/walking/ movement along with the benefits of staying fit. Event details and schedule Raceday registration ($20) begins at 7:00 a.m.and closes at 7:45 a.m. Race begins PROMPTLY at 8:00 a.m. Awards will be given to the top 3 males and top 3 females overall and in each age group: 9-under, 10-12, 13-15, 1619, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-over.
