MUSIC INSIGHT
The result is music that lends itself to
intimate venues (and maybe an arena,
in the case of “Asleep”), with a base in
country and Appalachian music, and pop
and rock influence to keep it modern.
Kramer’s voice is bright and clear, and
there’s optimism in it that gives the songs
a lightness they may not have had with
anyone else in front of the mic.
The Kramer brothers have already taken
to the road. About halfway through the
tour, Jake will return home to be with his
recently wedded wife, while Ben will continue on with friend and fellow musician
Rich Confer for the rest of the shows.
Kramer is determined to go as far as
it takes to make a mark for Bernardus
throughout the country. He cites vari-
18
ous mentors for the band that have been
involved in the music industry, and their
advice to put in the time and work it
takes to be able to perform professionally.
“Hopefully some friendships are born
and we find some fans that enjoy what
we’re doing, and they can see that we’re
putting in the work and doing our 9 to 5
on the road,” said Kramer.
Bernardus performs at Cheaha Brewing
Company Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. Find out more
