availability of food. During the summers and school holidays, the amount of children served at the Soup Bowl increases greatly. “I would love to see us be able to serve 7 days a week including holidays,” Beckett shares. “On the days school is out, this may be the only meal that those kids get.” The Soup Bowl was also able to help out during the snow storm that many of us found ourselves trapped in last January! Kim offered the warmth and hospitality to those who had to abandon their cars and were unable to make it home for a few days. With the holidays just around the corner, I feel that it is impossible to turn a blind eye or ear to such a great need in our community. Kim Beckett and The Anniston Soup Bowl provide a beacon of encouragement and hope to those who might not be able to INSIGHT see past the mountains they face. Beckett always has a smile and an encouraging word to those she serves every single day. During a time when we stop and reflect on our many blessings, I am extra grateful this year to have met such an inspiring lady! She truly has given those in need something to be thankful for, and that’s something we should all strive to do! ✤ The Anniston Soup Bowl accepts donations and volunteers on a yearly basis. They are in DESPERATE need of canned goods! Please contact Kim Beckett at 256-2366794 to find out how to volunteer or donate. Donations or inquiries can be mailed to: Anniston Soup Bowl P.O.
