Beach Body Prep by Kelsey Butler

It ’ s that time again ! Bikini

season is right around the corner , and there ’ s no time like the present to begin your beach body workout routine .
I spoke with Candace Tinner , owner of Fit ’ s Possible on Noble Street in Anniston , about some simple moves beginners can start doing today .
Candace recommends squats , incline pushups , and standing cross-body crunches to target the butt , gut , and arms .
SQUATS
Candace ’ s Advice : “ Sit down into a chair and let yourself completely sit down into the chair and come back up and go all the back down . As you come up , you want to keep your knees soft which means you don ’ t ‘ lock the door ’... Like how you tell your kids to keep the door cracked so I can keep an eye on you , leave your joints cracked so you keep an eye on them and keep them safe .”
INCLINE OR WALL PUSHUPS
Candace ’ s Advice : “ You don ’ t have to get on the floor to do a pushup you can start where you ’ re at . You can do it against the wall , you can do it against the counter , you can do it in the bathroom .”
STANDING CROSS-BODY CRUNCHES
Candace ’ s Advice : “ Any time you activate the lower , your legs , it activates your lower abs , the kangaroo pouch . Anytime you get your knee above your hip you ’ re automatically activating the lower part which is hardest to get .”
Candace has been teaching fitness classes for 14 years . She has taught at Jacksonville State University and at Word Alive . Candace says , “ People need to know that fit is possible . It ’ s not about your size , it ’ s not about your shape , it ’ s not about being a certain persona , it ’ s about feeling good and living a life that makes you want to live .”
Candace opened Fit ’ s Possible at the beginning of 2017 , and she says the name of her business was inspired by scripture . “ It came from the scripture ‘ With man these things are impossible , but with God all things are possible ’,” she says . “ It ’ s hard to say ‘ I can do this ’ but you can say ‘ it ’ s possible for me to do that ’. I can get behind possible , even if I don ’ t fully believe in me , I can believe in possible .”
Candace says her “ mission is to help people - mind , body , and soul - to live a life that ’ s worth living . Her key phrase is “ Find the fit that fits you ”.
Candace offers boxing , zumba , yoga , step aerobics , and more at her studio at 1105 Noble . ✽
