LEAGUE FOR ANIMAL WELFARE • A member of the foster family must bring the animal to all veterinarian appointments. 2726 Bynum Leatherwood Rd Anniston, AL 36201 (256) 238-0380 The League for Animal Welfare accepts volunteers every morning between the hours of 8:00 am and 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday. All you have to do is show up! When you get there you will fill out a quick volunteer form and then get to work. If you don’t have time during the work week to volunteer time, maybe you are interested in fostering a pet. Below are the requirements for fostering through the League for Animal Welfare. • As with adopting, a fenced yard or secure enclosure is required to foster a dog. • There can be no more than four dogs in the home, in addition to the dog being fostered. • Fostering will last no longer than two weeks, unless approved by the League for Animal Welfare. • The League will supply food, bedding, leash, collar, and crate for the animal being fostered. At the end of the fostering period, all LAW property must be returned. • The foster home/property must pass an unscheduled home inspection prior to the animal leaving the shelter. Unscheduled welfare checks can occur at any time in which the animal is being fostered. • The League will cover all scheduled veterinarian appointments. In the event of a medical emergency, a League member must be notified to approve vetting. 26 • A member of the foster family must bring the animal to all remote events in which the League is taking animals. • The animal that is being fostered is still up for adoption! A member of the foster family must bring the animal to the shelter if a potential adopter has scheduled an appointment to meet the animal. Forty-eight hour notice will be given.
