While a free live stream is always available , Varner says the station ’ s broadcast range has expanded allowing more people the opportunity to tune in , “ We have ranges out in Cedartown , GA , which is in Polk County . WLJS provides programing for genres including indie , pop , rock , hip-hop , bluegrass , country , as well as NPR . In addition , 91.9 FM proudly serves as the flagship station for the Gamecock Sports Network .
One of Varner ’ s goals for the station is to raise support . He said the eight-thousand dollar budget the station once enjoyed is now allocated elsewhere , “ We have absolutely nothing in our budget ”.
“ We ’ re still stuck in 2004 technology ,” admits Varner , which is why he ’ s spearheading new fund-raising efforts . “ We want to both improve the station and give back to our DJs ,” Varner has hopes of providing a field trip for DJs to perhaps the CNN Center in Atlanta .
