the finish line, where major breakaways and
jousting for position tends to explode, or visit
the last corner just before that final stretch
- the racers are heading downhill there, and
when the pro races are going, the riders are
hitting speeds up to about 45 miles an hour,
enough to hit the crowd with a gust of wind
as they go by.
The race structure follows the same form as
previous years; low-level races and junior
rides take place in the early day, starting at
10 a.m. with the Men’s Category 5 race. These
riders aren’t to be considered newbies; usually a racer in Category 5 is an excellent rider
that just hasn’t been race-proven yet.
The evening ends with Category 1 and 2
Women’s pro racing at 6:20 p.m. and Men’s
Pro Category 1 at 7:30 p.m., where the big
INSIGHT
money races for $15,000 take place.
Riders can register for the race at annistoncycling.com, where there’s also a full schedule of race events, including entry fee, prize
and age information for the entire race day.
TASTE ON NOBLE
Taste on Noble is back, bringing with it the
best of Calhoun County’s food and beverage
options. A list of restaurants is forthcoming,
but as with any year, you can expect to be
able to grab a sweet tea or soda and something good from local vendors. Remember,
this is the even that introduced us to Artisanal Baked Goods, and we have no regrets
about that, so expect deliciousness.
