R
iley Green playing at a fashion show?
It’s not as unlikely as it sounds.
The Young Leaders Society of Calhoun
County hosts a special fashion show on
March 14 at United Way of East Central
Alabama, with clothing from Frey Boutique, styling by Reflections Salon, delicious food from Smoke-n-Hot BBQ and,
of course, a concert by Mr. Green after
the show wraps up.
Regular readers will know Green from his
Back 40 Bash shows that draw in thousands of concert-goers to the back roads
of Piedmont every year, and his recent
stint on Redneck Island, where he won
the hearts of ladies nationwide for his
good looks and Southern draw. He’ll be
performing a full concert after the show.
Funds raised by the event will go to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library,
an international program that provides
free books to kids from ages 0-5 to help
kickstart reading and education. More
INSIGHT
than 2,700 kids in Calhoun County are
enrolled in the program, according to
UWECA, with a price tag of $30 per year,
per child. That’s more than $80,000, but
it’s a small investment in local children
who will one day be the backbone of the
community.
Drink tickets are available for patrons 21
and older, as well as food from Smoke-nHot, and there’s a split the pot raffle, so
bring cash to throw in and win big. Everything goes to support Calhoun County’s
Imagination Library, so help a child, enjoy some food and have fun helping Calhoun County kids.
The fashion show is March 14 at 6 p.m.
at Michael Wedding Barn, 10461 Choccolocco Rd. in Anniston. Admission to
the show is $20 in advance and $25 at
the door, with VIP tables available for
$300. For more information contact Jessica Smith 256-236-8229 or Jacki Thacker
256-770-9646. ✻
