• According to a news release from the
trio, the benefit dinner is designed to
showcase how the Coosa River affects
all facets of life, including agriculture,
outdoor recreation and cooking. Proceeds will help support Coosa Riverkeeper’s work to protect, restore and
promote the Coosa and its tributaries.
• The family-style dinner will be prepared
by Chef Rob McDaniel of SpringHouse.
McDaniel was named 2013 James Beard
Award Semifinalist for Best Chef in the
South and is passionate about supporting local farmers and preserving Southern cooking methods. The seasonally
inspired menu features local organic
produce from Owls Hollow Farm, Mount
Laurel Farm and E.A.T South. Guests
can enjoy Pimento Cheese Stuffed Peppadews; Flatbread, Red Pea Hummus,
Smooth Sumac and Extra Virgin Olive
Oil; Chicken Sausage and Smoked Catfish; Braised Swiss Chard; Ember Roasted Carrots; Smoked Beets; and a Pecan
Tart with any of Back Forty’s flagship
beers.
• Tickets are $65 and include the meal,
beer, tax, gratuity and a year-long membership to Coosa Riverkeeper.
• Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6:30
p.m. and the dinner will begin at 7 p.m.
• Coosa Riverkeeper is a citizen-based
river conservation nonprofit whose
mission is to protect, restore and promote the Coosa River and its tributaries
in Alabama. It works in the middle and
lower Coosa basins, a 5,000-square-mile
area with five of the Coosa’s six lakes,
on 220 miles of river. Back Forty was
founded in 2009 and is the oldest packaging brewery in Alabama. Its beers are
available in Alabama, Florida, Georgia,
Mississippi, Tennessee and Washington,
D.C. SpringHouse restaurant is at Russell
Crossroads at Lake Martin in Alexander
City. It was named one of Southern Living’s 100 Best Restaurants in the South
for 2014.
