Mata’s Greek Pizza: Taking an unprecedented lead, Mata’s is the undeniable
winner when it comes to everybody’s favorites in Calhoun County. The pizza is one thing
— thick crust, tons of cheese and toppings all
the way — but the Greek salad pulled a lot of
honors as well. In fact, almost everyone who
mentioned the restaurant said pizza and salad, though Greg Huff pointed out the grinder as an excellent option (try one for lunch if
you’re eating at the office — it’s still pizza, but
a whole lot more manageable). Drop by matasgreekpizzacom.ipage.com to see the entire
delicious menu.

Classic (Various Locations): Saying
“Classic” is at the top might be a little
misleading, given that the restaurant has
three different locations — Classic on Noble,
Classic at Buckhorn and Classic Too — but it’s
clear that the Classic foods of these restaurants
from owner David Mashburn more than make
up for location confusion. From their shrimp
and grits that made Alabama Tourism’s “100
Alabama Dishes to Eat Before You Die” list to
simpler favorites like veggie wraps at Classic
Too, Classic is one of your favorite places to eat.
