where it came from,” says Pegg. “They’re a
part of me.”
Pegg believes that musicians are special.
He says, “A musician’s mind is a wonder-
ful and a miserable place to be.” Pegg calls
himself the Forrest Gump of Munford. If
he’s not working on his guitars, he’s serv-
ing as a color commentator for a wrestling
match, or he’s traveling all over the south-
east to race his dirtbike in the SECCA. And
while Pegg gets along with people from all
walks of life, he speaks from experience in
saying he always feels like the lone guy in
the bunch. “Nobody gets it, nobody gets
you.”
As a songwriter, Pegg has channeled his
energy in both music and building, “Most
of my songs are pretty personal and the
guitars become pretty personal to me.”
Hence the reason Pegg feels that deep
connection to his custom guitars to give
them names.
Pegg recently completed “The Puzzlecast-
er” a guitar with glow in the dark puzzle
pieces. It was the first custom build in
which Pegg routed the pick guard into the

guitar. “Instead of laying on top, it’s actually
wood in wood, but you only get one shot
at it. If you screw it up, it goes in the pile of
shame.”
Pegg free-handed the inlay, and says that
was one of the top 5 most nervous mo-
ments he’s encountered in guitar building,
and now he’s ready to move on to some-
thing harder. Pegg says, “It’s stale doing the
same thing over and over and over again.”
That no-fear attitude and willingness to try
something different is what draws many of
Pegg’s customers to him.
Pegg’s custom guitars are on display at
Chevalier Productions in Anniston and at
Patterson Handcrafted Guitars in Gadsden.
