38 Special

38 Special lead singer Don Barnes says the
show 38 Special is bringing to OPAC is high
energy. “There’s a big explosive beginning
and we keep climbing to the end, and it’s a
big finish. And everybody’s exhausted, we’re
exhausted along with them,” he laughs. “We
try to move them like that and get that spirit…
It’s like a tornado.”
After decades of creating music and landing
song after song on the radio, Barnes says “It’s
the ultimate validation after all these years for
people to know those songs. They’re still played
on the radio every day, across the country.”
The Terrortorium: On-Camera
Interview READ ARTICLE
On Monday, October 1, 2018, I went to The
Terrortorium around 9:00 pm for an interview.
The business wasn’t open, but I walked inside.
I found myself lost in the winding hallways of
The Terrortorium. It was dark. The hallways
were narrow. I was alone… or so I thought.
As I felt my way through the blackness I found
a doorway. Inside, I found someone waiting.
Waiting for me.

Benefit Concert
Interviews with Charlie Daniels,
Shenandoah, and John Berry
Twenty-five years ago, Randy Owen sang these
words, “I believe there are Angels Among Us,
sent down to us from somewhere up above.
They come to you and me in our darkest hours.
To show us how to live. To teach us how to give.
To guide us with a light of love.”
The chorus to “Angels Among Us” by Alabama
says that in our darkest hours, angels “show us
how to live” and “teach us how to give”. Many
would say that Owen is now one of those
angels stepping up to help his alma mater,
Jacksonville State University, as the campus
and community of Jacksonville recovers
from the EF-3 tornado that tore through
Jacksonville on March 19.
Charlie Daniels
Daniels’s career in music has been incredibly
impactful to say the least. During his 60-plus
years of making music, Daniels has produced
fan favorites such as “Long Haired Country
Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In
America,” and so many others. You’d be hard-
pressed to find someone who has never heard
his Grammy-winning signature song, “The
Devil Went Down to Georgia”.
Daniels says he has spent his life doing what
he loves. “Once I learned three chords, where
I could play a song, I never wanted to be
anything but a professional musician,” he says.
“I wouldn’t trade places with anybody. I love
what I do. I love doing it with the people I do
it with. It’s just a great way to spend your life
when you find work that you enjoy doing.”
