A staple on Anniston ’ s Quintard Avenue for more than 35 years , Mata ’ s Greek Pizza is known for serving up the best pizza in Alabama .

As of December 2016 , the long-awaited Mata ’ s II is open for business , located fewer than 100 steps from the original restaurant .
Rick and Linda Burke own and operate the family business pouring love into every meal they serve . Linda ’ s parents ,
William and Mata Rodopoulos , opened Mata ’ s Greek Pizza & Grinders in 1980 after moving to Calhoun County from Massachusetts .
The couple had experience in the restaurant business after owning a pizza joint 20 miles north of Boston in the 70s . That ’ s where Mata perfected her family recipes for Greek and Italian dishes . When she brought those recipes to Anniston , however , many questioned the location of the original restaurant .
