The Fairytale Project has not only touched the lives of children in the United States . Casey had the opportunity to visit The Agape House , an orphanage in Haiti , as Elsa while on a mission trip in 2017 . She says the orphanage was founded and is directed by Americans which gives the children there the ability to watch movies like FROZEN . “ When I arrived , it was a totally different experience than when I had visited children in the states ,” Casey says . “ They were a little shocked at first and just stared and smiled at me , but soon they couldn ’ t stop touching my dress and my hair and they all wanted me to hold them .”
Casey says she still gets updates from The Agape House , and she hopes to return to Haiti to visit the children again soon .
Casey has big plans for The Fairytale Project in 2018 . “ Currently we are looking to grow our Superhero volunteers locally , as well as expand TFP into other areas such as Tuscaloosa and Auburn ,” she says . “ I have a handful of girls in both these areas who have exactly what I look for in a volunteer princess : the heart , beauty , leadership , time , and passion to spread this same magic to children in their local communities who need it the most .”
“ I think to me , it ' s the closest thing to having my own children ,” Casey says . “ TFP fills my heart in a way that nothing else can .”
As a non-profit , The Fairytale Project relies on donations and sponsorships to support the organization . “ Our biggest expense is definitely our costumes , wigs , and accessories ,” Casey says . “ Each character probably has anywhere from $ 500 to $ 1000- plus invested into them .”
TFP is completely volunteer based , and Casey says , “ The more costumes we are able to purchase , the more volunteers we can recruit , and the more children we are able to visit .” Donations also go towards items like decorations , arts and crafts , games , crowns , paper materials for “ royal invitations ,” and other items that are used for the events TFP does for the organizations they visit .
