Darren says that this is a job , in many ways like any other . He says it ’ s a learning experience , one that he takes very seriously . “ I still get nervous every time before a show , and I want to get nervous before a show .” By the tone of his voice , I could tell that Darren is humbled by his crash course into the spotlight . “ I ’ m just grateful … I guess the Lord gave me the strength to do it and get me used to it really fast .”
“ I think if you have a healthy level of respect for what you do and you carry a level of nervousness , I think that ’ s a good thing out of respect for the people in the audience . These people took time to come and see me . They spent their money , and so I want to give them their money ’ s worth .”
With shows selling out months in advance and 29 scheduled shows through mid-April it would be easy to get caught up in the hype of it all , but Darren ’ s vulnerability is refreshing . “ It ’ s incredible and I ’ m very thankful for it but it ’ s also very scary .” Darren said he ’ s just kind of going with it , “ I ’ ve always been told whatever starts fast , ends fast … With this kind of lifestyle and this kind of job it could all be over tomorrow .”
The idea of Southern Momma ending any time soon is surely unthinkable to Darren ’ s 1.5 million Facebook followers , and they will be happy to hear that he has some things cooking up for the new year . “ There is small talk right now of doing like a sitcom and filming a few episodes and fishing that out with the networks and seeing what happens with that .”
With the possibility of a sitcom brewing , Darren said he ’ s still trying to figure out
