and David hide in the trunk of a car during one escape . While we only saw a clip of the escape , Emiley says they were in that trunk for over an hour . Although uncomfortable , with the 6-foot tall David in a trunk , Emiley said that was one of highlights of the show .
With adrenaline pumping through your veins night and day , and the pressure of the hunters hot on your trail , it would be easy to forget what you left back home , but for Emiley , that is what gave her the most stress . “ Probably the most anxiety I got while I was on the run was leaving my website .” Emiley owns and operates the online boutique shopemilia . com . As a small business owner she says , “ It ’ s literally your baby . It ’ s your entire life , and it ’ s also my bread and my butter . So it ’ s scary walking away from that .”
What ’ s also scary for Emiley , not knowing from where her next meal is coming ? “ What am I going to eat for 30 days ?” was her question . She says her bag was “ 50 % protein bars and pop-tarts ” and “ A lot of the days that ’ s all that [ they ] had ”.
While a 30-day pop-tart diet isn ’ t ideal , Emiley says , “ It kind of affects your thinking and it affects your energy and your mood ”. She said that was a difficult hurdle for her , “ I was like , I ’ m physically hurting right now because I ’ m starving and I have a headache and we don ’ t have any water because ran out , but we have to go .”
One thing Emiley credits for their success ( so far ) on the show is that she and David focus on their health and fitness in their everyday lives . “ There was a lot of physical activity . You saw a short clip of us running through the woods , but that alone was 46 acres .” Emiley joked that even though they were eating pop-tarts , “ If anything , our hearts were rac-
