E’VE ALL SEEN THAT GOON
WHO TAKES KARAOKE NIGHT
JUST A LITTLE TOO FAR.
People sing karaoke to have a good time,
blow off steam and maybe use their hidden
vocal talents to surprise their friends. But
there’s always that one person who slithers
up to the mic to sing “Don’t Stop Believing,”
who takes what was a simple sing-along
18
for everyone else and turns it into an arena
rock show. Whether they’re a blight or a
delight depends on how much everyone
else has had to drink.
But that’s exactly the kind of personality
that works at a lip sync battle, a contest
where performers aren’t ranked by the
impressiveness of their singing, but by how
outrageously they can fake it.
