These days he’s hauling
out cupcakes instead
of hauling in suspects.
The glass case at the
shop’s counter holds
15 kinds of cupcakes, a
dozen daily standards
and three wild cards that rotate at Green’s
whim, drawing from the 190 or so flavors
the cupcakery has embraced as official.
Favorites include the Candied Pig, a
cupcake featuring bacon coated in brown
sugar, or the Kentucky Bourbon, which is
exactly what you’re imagining (though the
alcohol bakes out, just leaving the flavor).

It’s not that easy,” Green said, laughing.
“We’re a speciality place, we’re not Walmart;
we’ve got several different things that will
raise an eyebrow,” said Green.
Not that fingerprints are everything. Once,
he responded to a break-in at a city office in
downtown Marietta, where he found a trail
of blood running from a window that had
been forced open. “CSI” fans would expect
