SEE A LIST OF WHAT WAS
BURRIED IN THE CALHOUN
COUNTY CAPSULE
T
he Calhoun County Time Capsule has captured our imaginations a little bit here at
the Insight office, where we’ve spent the last
few months debating what we would’ve put
into the time capsule, which is set to stay buried next to the county courthouse in Anniston
until November of 2063.
We’re not saying there’s anything wrong with
what went into the big metal box; we’re sure
that brochures for local parks and attractions
will make for interesting then-and-now comparisons (LaGarde Park without parking spaces
for flying cars? How did people live back then?),
and a copy of Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men will
need to be preserved in the face of potential
future disasters.

We want to know what you would have put into
the time capsule. What music, books, movies
and personal effects do you think the Calhoun
County of a half-century from now needs to
see to know what we’re like? What food would
you put in? What historical stuff? What crazy,
off the wall stuff would you want the future to
discover about us?
Use the handy feedback form we’ve built into
these pages of the magazine to let us know,
and next month we’ll feature your responses in
the magazine and figure out what the people
of Calhoun County want in their informal time
capsule! Make sure you include your name with
your suggestions -- we’ll choose one winner at
random from all submissions who will receive a
$50 gift card from O’Charley’s in Oxford! ✤
