In my opinion, these two are not the same at all. Though whatever the opinion on this matter, there is nothing we can do about it. We are already so used to having all our messages on one device, having access to it every moment of the day wherever we want. The possibility to share it with other people with only 5 seconds effort. The only thing we could do about this development is considering the possibility that our message is not as powerful and clear as it used to be. So please realize that if you have a crush on someone you will have way more chance if you approach then in real life then you would over Whatsapp. And even more important example, if your friends grandmother died, realize that a Facebook message is not enough and that it will not have the same effect as a card, a phone call or a visit.

So if we apply these two outcomes of the experiment to messaging, we can state that modern, intangible messages do not have as much meaning and value to us as tangible messages. But what does this say about our current way of communicating? Almost all our communication is intangible these days. Think of texts, emails, chats. On every level of our lives we communicate through intangible messages. At work you send emails to your colleagues, at school you send texts to your peers to find out what kind of homework you have due for next week and you send messages to your friends on facebook to see what they are up to this weekend. Though times are changing and new technology is coming up. Google glasses for example. Sending a message will cost less and less effort so what will this mean to the credibility of our messages?
