ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AT CLAREMONT DAY AND BOARDING SCHOOL
Claremont is a thriving, co-educational day and boarding school for children aged 1-18. The nursery, pre-prep and preparatory schools were established in St-Leonards-on-Sea in 1925, set within 100 acres of stunning East Sussex countryside, while the senior school and sixth form at Bodiam developed more recently in response to the success of the prep school.
Rated‘ outstanding’ across all areas in its recent Ofsted report, there are approximately 600 pupils at the school, including 50 boarders. The school prides itself on the inspirational quality of its teaching staff who create a dynamic learning environment in which all pupils make rapid progress.
Claremont is a centre of genuine academic excellence, recently recording their best ever GCSE results and surpassing the school’ s 2015 performance, which saw Claremont topping the league tables in East Sussex. 94 percent of this year’ s results were A * to C grades( including English and Maths) and an astonishing 46 percent of all the pupils’ grades were an A */ A grade. Nearly half of all students achieved five or more A */ A grades and 76 percent of all grades were A * to B.
To see how far your child could thrive at Claremont, the school would like to invite you to experience the nursery and prep school in their upcoming open mornings on Friday October 14th and Saturday October 15th, from 9.30am-1pm. PLANNING SUBMITTED FOR NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL IN HORSHAM
Horsham will welcome a new secondary school by September 2020 if plans for a sustainable new live, work, play community to the north of the town get the go-ahead from Horsham District Council.
The new secondary school, partly funded by the Liberty Property Trust from an overall infrastructure and community benefits package of around £ 50 million, will sit within an education campus in the proposed new‘ North of Horsham’ development – the planning application for which has recently been submitted.
Designed from an early stage to be a key feature of the overall master plan, the new campus will also include a primary school, as well as catering for‘ early years’ children and pupils with special educational needs. Andrew Blevins, managing director of Liberty, said:“ It’ s not often you hear about good things coming early with large-scale new communities, but we understand that the secondary school is a priority for West Sussex County Council( WSCC). Therefore, we will open up the site from the start for them to have the school up and running by 2020.”
With pressure already on school places locally, Liberty believes that the North of Horsham development will provide an opportunity to deliver a comprehensive education solution and the WSCC is prioritising delivery of the new secondary school to help meet this important need. Likely to be a‘ free school’, it will cater for 900 pupils and have the potential to expand to 1,200 pupils if wider district needs demand it. Liberty will help to pay for the new secondary school buildings and facilities, as well as providing some land for the new school.
“ We’ re delighted to have submitted our planning application,” added Blevins.“ We said last year that we were going to get the application right and that is exactly what we’ ve done.”
