Beauty from top to toe at Lashious
Perhaps it’s because of this year’s ‘Great British Summer’ – our weather seems to be in a constant
state of flux leaving us not knowing what to wear and with often less than perfect hair. Perhaps
it’s because of nationwide austerity measures that have made us think more carefully about what
we really want to spend our hard-earned money on. Either way, there is one industry that seems
to be booming and that’s the beauty industry. I have noticed a sweep of new beauty salons
opening across Sussex, each offering the latest skincare and treatments, not least Lashious,
which has been quietly making waves in central Brighton since December last year. We went
along for a few treatments to find out why everyone loves Lashious. B Y P O L L Y H U M P H R I S
They say a treatment is only as good as the
therapist who conducts it. You can have
the best products in the world, but if they’re
administered by someone who’s poorly trained,
or lacklustre in their efforts, you won’t feel or see
the benefits. Fortunately, this is absolutely not
the case at Lashious. With a strong team who
clearly get on well, the air of professionalism is
apparent as soon as you walk through the door.
A haven of calm, the walls are predominantly
white, barring the identifiable, pink Lashious
logo that pops up from time to time, and row
upon row of gorgeous nail varnishes sitting in
front of the excellent nail technicians on hand to
apply them in every colour imaginable.
Excited for my indulgent, hour-long,
Dermalogica AGE Smart facial, I was
introduced to my allocated beauty therapist
and sensed immediately the air of someone
who knows exactly what they’re doing, which
is so reassuring; especially when it’s your face
in question! Having filled out a form to assess
if the planned Dermalogica products were
suitable for my skin type, she then explained to
me what the benefits of the AGE Smart facial
I had opted for were, and how effective the
facial is in kick starting a long-term, anti-ageing
skincare regime, the Dermalogica products for
which can all be bought at Lashious.
My colleague, Lisa, opted for gel nails and
a brow tint when she visited. A steal at just
£20 for nails and £10 for brows as part of
the salon’s summer offer. “The fact that the
professional therapists do not use drills is a
huge plus for me, as it means no damage to
my sometimes weak nails,” Lisa told me. “Also,
the range of colours available is bang on trend
with some really beautiful pastel and bright
summer hues available, and the complimentary
glass of Prosecco made me feel utterly spoilt
while being pampered. My nails remained chip
free until my next appointment three weeks
later and really kept their shine.”
“I’ve never had an eyebrow tint before, so
when it was applied by the therapist, I was a
little worried as it looked dark and thick,” Lisa
added. “My therapist assured me they wouldn’t
look so severe when she removed the dye
though, so I sat back and relaxed in the comfy
treatment chair for fifteen minutes. When the
dye was removed, I was really pleased with the
result - no patches that I normally have to fill in
with kohl pencil and another timesaver for my
beauty routine in the morning. My eyebrows
looked defined and lasted for an entire month,
which is more than worth the cost of the
treatment.”

They say the proof is in the pudding and
it certainly is where beauty treatments at
Lashious are concerned; another happy
customer, I left without blotches and didn’t
suffer any post-treatment breakouts either,
which is down to the skill of their therapists and
the quality of the products used.
