Richard III Live from the Almeida // 21 Jul
The Almeida Theatre makes its live screening debut with an explosive
new adaptation of Richard III, directed by Almeida artistic director,
Rupert Goold, with Ralph Fiennes as Shakespeare’s most notorious
villain and Vanessa Redgrave as Queen Margaret. Through the
malevolent Richard, Shakespeare examines the all-consuming
nature of the desire for power amid a society riddled by conflict.
Olivier-winning director, Rupert Goold’s (Macbeth, King Charles III)
searing new production hones a microscopic focus on the mythology
surrounding a monarch whose machinations are inextricably woven

Following on from the highly successful film in 2010, this musical
follows the true story of the struggle for working women to be paid
a fair wage in the Dagenham Ford factory in 1968. Their fight brings
them to the TUC conference in Eastbourne – very appropriate! Funny,
touching and timeless, Made in Dagenham shows how ordinary
people can do extraordinary things when they stand together. With a
great score, including the song, Viva Eastbourne, this promises to be
an engaging fun, and energetic show – something new and British!
