Flare Path // 27-30 Jan
Based on Rattigan’s experiences as a tail gunner during World War
II, Flare Path paints an evocative portrait of life in wartime Britain for
the RAF bomber crews, their wives and sweethearts, who were left
awaiting their return. Set in 1942 against a backdrop of heartache and
quiet bravery, Flare Path tells the story of former actress Patricia, the
wife of RAF pilot Teddy, as their marriage is tested to the limits by the
surprise arrival of Patricia’s ex-lover and Hollywood idol Peter Kyle.
Combining highly charged drama with a truly authentic taste of the
fear, camaraderie and passion experienced by the men and women
who fought to save their country their families and each other.
John Bratby: Everything but
the Kitchen Sink, including the
Kitchen Sink // 30 Jan – 17 Apr
John Bratby was a prolific painter,
writer and something of an enfant
terrible on the British art scene
during the fifties and sixties. Born
in 1928, he died in his adopted
hometown of Hastings, just a day
after his 64th birthday, while walking
home from the local chippy.
7.30pm (Thursday and Saturday matinees 2.30pm).

Supersonic 70s is a sensational
six-piece live band featuring the
incredible lead singer and ‘Catsuited wondergirl’ Janey Bombshell.
Their theatre show which has run
all over the country for the last three
years will take you on a tantalising
trip back to when Pop was at its peak!
Rather than create a traditional
retrospective of John Bratby's
paintings – it is believed Bratby
painted over 1,500 works – the
Jerwood Gallery launched a rare
opportunity for the UK public to
shape the style and content of a
major gallery exhibition. John Bratby:
Everything but the Kitchen Sink,
including the Kitchen Sink brings
together works that have been
selected for the exhibition by an
independent panel, and has helped
the gallery to rediscover his output
and celebrate the talent of the man who put everything but the kitchen
sink, including the kitchen sink, into his art.
