Last Night A DJ Saved My Life
// 14 Nov
The world premiere of a brand new
musical. A DJ dad, a wild child
daughter and a trip to the party
island of Ibiza with a pulsating
dance track from the 80s and 90s.
‘The Hoff’, iconic star of Baywatch
and Knight Rider, plays an extrovert,
party-going DJ and nightclub owner
in Ibiza. His teenage daughter arrives to stay for the summer and he
has to cope with being a single parent to a girl who wants to meet
boys and live the party life.
The Mikado // 7 Nov
The Mikado is the most popular Gilbert and Sullivan opera, and has
delighted audiences for more than a century. The famous melodies
include “Three Little Maids from School”, “A Wandering Minstrel”, “Tit
Willow” and many more. The show is set in the fictional town of Titipu,
where tailor Ko-Ko has been appointed Lord High Executioner. Except
that he hasn’t actually executed anyone. The show teems with a
range of unforgettable characters. Pooh-Bah is the sneering Lord High
Everything Else; Nanki-Poo is the disguised son of The Mikado who
escaped the court to avoid the attentions of the intimidating and ugly
noblewoman, Katisha; and Yum-Yum is the perfect ward of Ko-Ko who
just happens to be in love with Nanki-Poo. Then the formidable Mikado
arrives and lives start to take a turn for the worse. The Mikado is hilarious
romp of captivating silliness and it is no wonder that this glorious topsyturvy tale has become one of the best-loved of all the Savoy operas.

Sandi Thom // 14 Nov
Sandi Thom was the first singer/songwriter ever to gain global
stardom and a major label record deal through the use of webcasting.
There’s no getting away from the fact that she was a pioneer of what
was a huge turning point in the music industry. But it’s a long way
from that global smash, “I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (With Flowers
in My Hair)” launched from webcasts in a London basement, to
where proud Scot, Sandi Thom, finds herself today, with an amazing,
eclectic, highly credible body of work behind her, and an amazing new
album ahead.
David Walliams’ Gansgta Granny // 10-12 Nov
The world premiere of David Walliams’ Gangsta Granny is coming to
the stage in a national tour starting at The Capitol. It is being hosted
by the Birmingham Stage Company, the acclaimed producers of
Horrible Histories. It’s Friday night and Ben knows that means only
one thing—staying with Granny. There will be cabbage soup, cabbage
pie and cabbage cake, and Ben knows one thing for sure—it’s going
to be sooooooooo boring. But what Ben doesn’t know is that Granny
has a secret, and Friday nights are about to get more exciting than he
could possibly imagine, as he embarks on the adventure of a lifetime
with his very own Gangsta Granny.
