Our cover features a stag in a frost-covered meadow – not that there’s anything wrong with stags or frost, but I will be sorry to see the summer go. I know, I know, it happens every year at the same time, but that doesn’t mean I’m ever prepared for heavy coats, pumpkins and dare I say it...Christmas. Now that the kids are back at school, you’ll have plenty of time for leisurely, grown-up lunches, right? Pah! I know all too well that kids going back to school doesn’t necessarily mean more free time, but it does make it ever so slightly easier. If you happen to find yourself with a day off, or even an hour or two, have a look at our favourite lunch spots in Sussex (p33) for that perfect place for daytime dining. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the autumn. We’re so lucky to live in such a beautiful, colourful county, where we can enjoy all four seasons in so many ways. If there’s one thing we can be thankful for in the autumn, it’s our local produce, which you can celebrate at this year’s Parham Harvest Festival (p68).
