The long summer holidays are upon us, and although that’s great news for school-weary children
and their parents, it can sometimes become a little…boring. Dull. And although that’s all par for the
course – when better than the summer holidays to buy new clothes and school uniform, to get a
haircut, to finish up all that homework and reading that is required – a day out every now and then
will brighten everyone’s mood. We’ve put together a list of some of the best ‘active activities’ that
can be found across the UK to make those perfect summer holiday memories. BY LISAMARIE LAMB

The activities on offer
here include exploring
and team building
games, cooking on a
campfire, and even making bread outdoors! Special Gruffalo-themed sessions
involve listening to the story being read around a roaring campfire, with
puppets for added fun. You can even make a character from the story using
clay, and learn how to bring it to life. Other themed sessions include Robin
Hood, den and shelter building, nature’s kitchen, survival skills, teddy bears’
picnic, and woodland fairies, to name just a few.

Super Camps is a fantastic programme of organised games, sports, and
creative activities designed to keep children entertained and energised. The
camps can be booked either daily or weekly. Each day consists of six
different activities, and runs from 9am until 5pm. It is ideal for children
between 4 and 14 years. Activities include face painting, clay modelling,
bush craft, circus skills, swimming, archery, quad biking, and at least 120
minutes of exercise every day (double the government guidelines)! This is
where your children will make friends and learn new skills whilst keeping
active.
