Wednesday 26th August sees the festival’s
second International Chef Exchange with
chef Craig Jones of The Cliff restaurant at the
Cap Maison hotel in St Lucia take over the
kitchens of chef Andrew MacKenzie at Drakes
of Brighton. Expect wines and fine dining with a
Caribbean twist.
On Thursday 27th August, the festival heads
to the award-winning Jeremy’s Restaurant
at Borde Hill Garden for a cocktail-themed
supper created by distiller Sarah Thompson of
Blackdown Sussex Spirits and chefs Jeremy
Ashpool and Jimmy Grey. Stunning food will
be matched with a selection of drinks from the
internationally acclaimed Blackdown range.
Chef Michael Bremner of 64 Degrees teams up
with six Sussex vineyards for a one-off wine and
food matching evening in the festival marquee
on Friday 28th August. The event is a fundraiser
for FareShare – the food surplus redistribution
charity – with Michael working with the
FareShare team on some of the dishes. Each
course will be matched by a still or sparking
Sussex wine with the winemakers themselves
presenting.
The big hurrah is always the Sussex & The
World Weekend and this year the free entry
events on seafront Hove Lawns run from
Saturday 29th through to bank holiday Monday
31th August. Featuring over 85 local and
international food producers and restaurants,
the Live Food Show with chefs from Brighton
and surrounding Sussex, and the Children’s
Food Festival with lots of interactive fun for
little ones.
New for 2015 is the Sussex Drinks Tent with
a wide selection of English still and sparkling
wines presented by Butlers Wine Cellar, a
craft beer and lager bar with KingBeer and
The Collective, Mixology Group’s Rum Shack,
Wobblegate cider and Blackdown Sussex
Spirit’s G&Ts. Running from noon until 8pm on
25
both Saturday and Sunday with lots of tasty
food to enjoy too.
Sunday 30th August sees the Live Food Show
marquee taken over by Metrodeco and Sussex
Swing. There’ll be free adult and children taster
classes of Lindyhop and Charleston throughout
the afternoon followed by open dancing from
4pm. Enjoy afternoon tea or a selection of
tea cocktails created by Helen Taggart of
Metrodeco and Sarah Thompson of Blackdown
Sussex Spirits.
One final surprise for the bank holiday weekend
will be Boho Disco! The festival has teamed up
with Seb Cole of Boho Gelato in Pool Valley to
create an interactive, day-glow ice cream and
music experience. Its one not to miss!
