annual events
top spot
Eastbourne hosts events throughout the year,
so no matter what month you visit, you will be
almost guaranteed to find something fun to join
in with. Here are just a few to check out.
Eastbourne Pier has a selection of small shops
and a lovely café, but it’s more than that – it’s
a piece of history that needs to be seen and
felt when you visit Eastbourne. The residents of
Eastbourne are proud of their pier, and rightly so
– it is a beautiful construction that, when it was
built in 1872, heralded a new age of building
and the future seemed bright. The pier has risen
from the ashes – literally (there was a huge fire
in 2014) – and is open for business again. You
can even have your wedding here, against a
dramatic sea view.
Magnificent Motors // May
This free event is always popular, and with over
600 vintage and classic cars on display it’s no

for bikes and cycling. Attending this fantastic
event gives you the chance to take part in
various activities including road races and time
trials. There are also numerous cycling related
stalls to browse on the sea front.

Did You Know?
Victorian occultist, Aleister Crowley, once predicted that, should the Devil’s Chimney (a
200-foot chalk tower by Beachy Head) ever fall, Eastbourne would fall with it. The Devil’s
remains.
