The Fox Goes Free boasts 400 years of character and history, set in the beautiful countryside at the bottom of the
South Downs. William III used to come for refreshing the Royal Hunting Party on breaks from London. The Fox Goes
Free prides itself on the preservation of many of the original features including, the bread oven, inglenook fireplaces, low
beamed ceilings and brick floors. With all this and the good range of real ales, fine wines and our extensive menu it will
make your visit one never to be forgotten. The Fox has long been known for its excellent standard of pub cuisine,
delicious local real ales and well chosen wines. We have a choice of different seating areas, in which you can enjoy our
delicious bar meals such as homemade pie or the first rate a la carte menu, with dishes such as Fox fish pie: smoked
haddock, salmon & king prawns in a white wine & tarragon sauce topped with cheesy mash. In the winter, enjoy our
roaring open fires and, in the summer, delight in the “best room in the house” - outside in our charming apple tree filled
garden, which has magnificent views of the South Downs.
