The FA Women’s Super League
saw Chelsea win the league,
replicating their season of suc-
cess in the FA Cup being
crowned Champions. The
U20’s claimed 3rd place in the
World Cup against France after
losing out to Japan 2-0 in the
semi-final.
Liverpool against all odds
reached
the
Champions
League final losing out to Real
Madrid in an exciting final in
Kiev. Manchester reached 100
as they were crowned Premier
League Champions losing just
two games in the competition
throughout the season, seeing
off long standing records. The
FA Cup Final saw Chelsea beat
Manchester United thanks to a
well converted penalty from
midfielder Eden Hazard.
In February the World Track
Cycling Championships held in
the Netherlands did not disap-
point, the Dutch taking the
overall crown on home turf
much to the delight of viewing
fans. Scott Katie Archibald
brought home the Madison
title as she remained dominant
through the course of the
event. The men’s team pursuit
and sprint teams notably pick-
ing up medals.
Ronnie O’Sullivan remained on
top of the Snookering World
winning 11 titles overall from
2018 to the start of this year.
His dominance has seen him
become the best Snooker play-
er of all time. Novack Djokovic
saw off Kevin Anderson within
3 sets to claim the men single’s
title at Wimbledon, the Wom-
en’s title was awarded to Ger-
man Angelique Kerber who
beat American Serena Williams
in straight sets.
Moving on to the Sporting
events taking place this year
it’s a big year for Rugby as
Japan will be hosting the sport’s
World Cup. The 2019 Rugby World
Cup, the 9th to be held, will be
contested in Japan. This will be the
first time this tournament is to be
held in Asia. Hong Kong and Singa-
pore are also expected to host
some of the matches. Wales who
are currently unbeaten in 9 match-
es look worthy competitors for the
trophy holding s great run of form.
However Ireland who have recent-
ly overcome New Zealand and
South Africa could cause an upset
if the top team’ results slip up. The
Cricket World Cup comes to Eng-
land, the fifth time it has been
held here. It has previously hosted
matches in 1975, 1979, 1983 and
1999. Will the home nation be
able to bring the Cup home?
The premier league champion will
be crowned as it seems like a two-
horse race after reaching the half
way point of the season, with
reigning champions Manchester
City hot on the tails of leaders
Liverpool who for the last few

seasons have been rebuilding
under Jurgen Klopp. The
UEFA Nations League finals
will take place across Europe
in June as England will hope
to carry their 2018 World
Cup form into the semi final
against a struggling Nether-
lands side.
Andy Murray recently an-
nouncing his retirement from
Tennis due to reoccurring
injuries. This paves the way
for Kyle Edmund who cur-
rently is British number 1 to
make his name in big tourna-
ments.
