Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar has teamed up with
fellow restauranteur Jitindar Singh to launch Indian
Essence, the Indian dining experience in Kent to
combine the ?nest seasonal ingredients with Kochhar’s
unique understanding of Indian ?avours.
adapted to a neighbourhood setting, in order to achieve
an exciting new spin on the local Indian restaurant.
To complement Indian Essence’s ground-breaking
menu, there is an immaculate wine list selected from
the most revered wineries of the world, accompanied
by an equally exciting cocktail list. Catering for families,
events and for any special request, this is an all-year
restaurant for everyone.
Atul Kochhar is the Chef/Patron of Benares restaurant
in Mayfair, and was the ?rst ever Indian chef to win a
coveted Michelin Star. His contemporary cooking style
has been credited with changing the perception of
Indian dining in the UK, bringing a modern British twist
to his bold ?avour combinations. Meanwhile, Jitindar
Singh has over seventeen years’ experience in the
hospitality industry, having worked with the prestigious
Oberoi and Taj Group hotels. Boasting an extensive
knowledge of the Kent region, he has managed
award-winning Indian restaurants in both the West End
and Bromley.
Together they have devised a delicious menu that
presents classic Indian ?avours in innovative new ways,
with an extensive a la carte menu complemented by a
trio of set menus, and a tasting menu designed to
broaden customers’ understanding of Indian cooking
and its wide-ranging possibilities. With dishes such as
Soft Shell Crab with Corn and Apple salad, Tandoori
Chicken Tikka in Creamed Tomato and Fenugreek
Sauce, and Goan Style Sirloin Steak with Coconut
Pepper Sauce served with Herb crusted Potatoes, the
venture sees Kochhar’s progressive Indian cuisine
