VISITKENT DREAMLAND 100 DREAMLAND HAS BEEN ONE OF THE UK’S BEST-LOVED AMUSEMENT PARKS FOR A CENTURY. THE SEASIDE PARK HOSTED A ZOO, MINIATURE RAILWAY, WWII TROOPS, BIG BANDS LIKE THE WHO AND THE ROLLING STONES - AND IT'S STILL GOING STRONG 100 YEARS LATER... The park’s history stretches all the way back to the early 1870s, but it wasn’t until the seaside site was snapped up in 1920 by John Henry Iles that it officially opened as Dreamland, a pleasure garden and amusement park, with the iconic Scenic Railway as its centrepiece. Now the all-you-can-treat seaside sensation is celebrating its 100th birthday in 2020, and OneFUNdred years of fun and laughter for all the family. The park kicked off the year by creating a brand-new logo for the landmark anniversary, designed by Hemingway Design. Dreamland has a jam-packed calendar of events planned with thrilling rides, huge music events, outdoor screenings, delicious food and drink, and colourful collaborations in store. 54 Music acts confirmed for 2020 so far include: • Annie Mac Presents - 16th May • The Funk & Soul Weekender - 29th- 31st May • Hi Tide Festival - 4-5th July • Andy C - 18th July • De La Soul - 25th July • Pride celebrations headlined by All Saints! - 8th August • AND MORE TO COME! Guests will also have the nautical Ships and Giggles festival to look forward to during May half term. The park will open over several weekends before opening daily for the sensational Roller Coast Festival across the summer school holidays. Full details of the Dreamland 100 programme will be announced over the coming weeks. Dreamland CEO Eddie Kemsley said: “Our 100th year is going to be truly spectacular. Dreamland is one of the most important and striking attractions in the country. It is part of Margate’s cultural heritage, and so much love and hard work has gone into preserving and celebrating this cherished seaside attraction over the past ten decades. We are immensely proud to welcome back fans of the park again and again, and to introduce it to a new generation of Dreamers in 2020.” Dreamland is free to enter, and guests can buy discounted ride wristbands in advance online to save 25%. Members ride for free. Dreamland’s main park will be open daily during the Easter, Spring and Summer holidays, and on selected weekends from May to September.
