8-18-year olds where they can take
part in performing and creative arts
classes, from theatre, dance, singing,
digital design, art and film making.
Children from all walks of life can
find their passion and explore new
hobbies, meaning that there is
something for everyone.
The creative weekend centre comes
directly from The BRIT School, a
unique performing arts and technical
school, boasting successful alumni
such as Adele, Amy Winehouse and
Leona Lewis.
What Makes Us Unique?
BRIT Kids is a Saturday school with
a difference, designed to encourage
children to take risks as part of a fun
and creative community.
Usually, you would need to look
further into London for an extensive
performing arts education, but the
Canterbury location means that you
need look no further than your
doorstep for an opportunity.
Learn Modern, Exciting Skills
Canterbury College is an ideal location
for the BRIT Kids classes, due to its
large site that can accommodate all
areas of the arts. Large theatre spaces
and professional equipment means
that your child can get to grips with
146
cutting-edge technology and have the
space to exercise their creative freedom
and develop their confidence.
Whether they’re a budding performer,
or an aspiring filmmaker, your child
will benefit from quality teaching from
industry professionals, who will
encourage them to explore their
creativity every Saturday.
At the Heart of the Community
Canterbury College has ample parking
and is within walking distance of
the city centre, which benefits from
fantastic transport links. Lucy
McLeod, principal of the college,
noted: “The creative arts are a large
part of our curriculum offer. We have
fantastic facilities that can now be put
to good use at the weekends, too. This
is not only really exciting for
Canterbury College, but also for the
communities surrounding it.”
How Will it Benefit My Child?
In a digital world, young people are
exploring their creativity through
social media. Whilst this gives them a
brand-new outlet and sharing
platform, it is important that they
develop their skills offline, too.
As well as exploring their talents, they
will also benefit from a range of life
skills, including increased confidence,
heightened empathy and improved
problem solving, which will help them as they go forward into adulthood. As
they take part in collaborative performances and projects, the friendships and
memories that they make in this community will last a lifetime.
How Do I Sign Up?
You can sign-up now to begin in April and select up to three different classes
your child would like to be involved in.
