IN ASSOCIATION WITH
EDUCATION
ONE SCHOOL, MANY JOURNEYS
NO TWO CHILDREN ARE EXACTLY ALIKE; THEY ALL HAVE THEIR INDIVIDUAL TALENTS,
LIKES AND DISLIKES. SUTTON VALENCE SCHOOL RECOGNISES THIS AND, FROM
NURSERY TO UPPER SIXTH, OFFERS AN ALMOST BESPOKE JOURNEY FOR EACH CHILD,
BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND BEYOND THE CLASSROOM.
Naturally at all stages, academic achievement is important, but this is only one
part of what makes a child successful in life. At Sutton Valence School every
pupil is encouraged to find what really excites them. Our extensive sports schedule
affords all pupils the opportunity to be selected for school teams and our music,
drama, art and design technology departments are always hives of activity.
Through the high expectations and standards we set, all our young people are
encouraged and supported to go further than they had thought possible in their
academic, co-curricular, community and leadership journeys. We want them to
become confident, tolerant and open-minded individuals who possess a love of
learning and a strong sense of self-discipline.
By the time they conclude their stay at SVS, each pupil will have taken a slightly
different journey, but our ultimate destinations for all are the same: that they
will work hard to fulfil their true potential and add value to their lives.
Our greatest strength is our community; the relationships enjoyed between staff,
pupils and parents are exemplary. The SVS house system, at both the preparatory
and senior schools, fosters the school’s family atmosphere. Friendly rivalry in
house competitions, which may be sporting, cultural, academic or just good fun,
offer opportunities for every child to contribute and be applauded for their efforts.
When a child feels supported, cared for and recognised for what they are, then
they feel comfortable to push themselves beyond their comfort zone to discover
the limits of their ability.

At the Prep School, our safe,
stimulating environment enriches
every child’s educational experience
and enables us to deliver a curriculum
that ignites each pupil’s enthusiasm
for learning. Our primary aim is to
provide a place where emotional well-
being, physical development and
literacy and numeracy skills blossom.
Our classrooms are large and filled
with light; furnished with natural
materials and beautiful resources. Our
outdoor areas provide further learning
spaces where the children have fun in
the playgrounds and enjoy our
extensive grounds. The countryside is
on our doorstep and wellies are a
compulsory part of our uniform!
From mid-April, the nursery will be
known as Little Lambs Nursery. With
early drop-off and late collection
options, complete wrap-around care
will be available throughout the year.
From September 2020, the age range
for the Nursery will be extended to
include children from two-years-old.
Naturally the same high-quality care
and academic programme will
continue to be provided, with pupils
benefitting from specialist teaching in
music, French, dance and sport.
We are very proud to hold the Quality
Mark for Early Years education – the
only independent school in Kent to
have been awarded this prestigious
accolade.
