BUSINESS NEW MANAGER APPOINTED TO LEAD PRODUCED IN KENT The board of Produced in Kent has announced the appointment of Floortje Hötte who took over the helm last month replacing Stephanie Durling who retired in October 2019. Floortje, previously External Relations Officer at the Kent Business School, University of Kent, said: “I am very much looking forward to the challenge of leading Produced in Kent and further developing the range of services, support and events for members, as well as connecting with the wider food and drink sector, both here in Kent and further afield. Produced in Kent’s members, like many businesses, have been facing a degree of uncertainty in the current political climate. We will continue to do what we do best, which is to provide information and support to business leaders, guide them to grow their business sustainably and access funding, and to help build connections with other Produced in Kent members and the wider Kent business network.” Stephen Clarke, Chair of Produced in Kent adds: “The board of Produced in Kent are delighted to announce Floortje’s appointment and she will bring to the role a considerable range of skills and experience, to ensure the continued success of the organisation into the next decade.” 2020 BEXLEY BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS The 2020 Bexley Business Excellence Awards in association with Ocado will open for entries at a special launch event, sponsored by Orbit, on Wednesday, 5th February. The 2020 launch of the awards - now entering their eighth successful year - will be held on Wednesday, 5th February, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at The Engine House, Erith. Guests will enjoy drinks and canapes as they hear details of the entries categories, and the glittering black-tie Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, which will be held in June. Dan Cowley, director of Whitehead Monckton’s commercial property team in Canterbury and lead relationship liaison for the proposal commented: “We are delighted to have the opportunity of working with Canterbury Christ Church University.” The contract will involve the provision of specialist property legal services both within the non-contentious and contentious spheres tailored towards their profile as a higher education institution that has Estate in Canterbury, Medway and Tunbridge Wells. CANTERBURY GOLF CLUB DRIVES INTO 2020 WITH A KEY NEW APPOINTMENT & A LEAP UP THE KENT GOLF COURSE RANKINGS As part of a major reorganisation of resources, the Canterbury Golf Club has introduced the new position of director of golf which has been filled by 41-year-old Aaron Galbraith, who has been the head professional at Sene Valley for almost six years. Galbraith begins in April, taking over the running of the golf shop and golf services. The appointment follows two additions to the club’s staff towards the end of last year, Eleanor Walton as clubhouse manager and Eleanor’s husband, Tony; who has earned high acclaim at Langan’s in London’s Mayfair, the All England Club at Wimbledon, and in corporate catering at Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Football Clubs; as head chef. A former Canterbury Golf Club member and past junior captain, Galbraith said: “It’s great to come back after 25 years to take on this newly-created role. I have enjoyed my time at Sene Valley but this move gives me the opportunity to head into golf operations management, which is something I have wanted to do for some time.” In another positive move, the course which opened for play in 1927 moved up from 17th to 13th place in the golf course rankings for Kent that were recently published by Top 100 Golf Courses.
